The problem
Habit apps get abandoned, and paper trackers get lost. Without a simple place to mark "did it" and a weekly review, good intentions fade after a few days.
Step by step
- 1Choose 1–3 habits that are small and clear (for example "walk 20 minutes", "no screens after 10 PM", "drink a glass of water with breakfast"). Vague goals like "be healthier" do not track well.
- 2Open ChatGPT or Claude and paste the prompt below with your habits.
- 3In sheets.google.com create a blank spreadsheet. Make columns for Date and each habit (Yes/No or a checkbox). Paste any sample rows the AI gives you, or type the headers yourself.
- 4Each evening, mark the day. Keep the sheet bookmarked on your phone (Sheets app or browser).
- 5Once a week, paste a summary of the week into the same AI chat and use the weekly check-in prompt it gave you. Adjust habits if they are too big; consistency beats intensity. This is a personal productivity tool, not medical treatment.
Copy-paste prompt
Help me track 1–3 habits. Habits I want to build: [list, be specific]. Why they matter to me: [short]. Give: (1) a simple Google Sheets layout (column headers and how to use checkboxes or Y/N); (2) rules for what counts as "done" for each habit so I do not cheat myself; (3) a short weekly check-in prompt I can paste back to you with my Yes/No counts; (4) advice on what to do after a missed day without quitting. Keep it practical and kind. Reminder: this is general habit advice, not medical or mental-health treatment.
Tips and watch-outs
- Start with 1–3 tiny habits; big lists collapse fast.
- After a missed day, restart the next day without a guilt spiral.
