Turn equipment telematics data into a fleet health dashboard

The problem
Dealers and fleet owners have engine hours, fault codes, fuel use and idle time sitting in telematics portals and CSV exports, but customers rarely see it in a form that helps them plan service.
Step by step
- 1Export machine data (hours, fault codes, fuel, idle time, location) from the manufacturer's telematics portal as CSV, or use its API if available.
- 2Load it into a Google Sheet or Excel table with one row per machine per day.
- 3Build a dashboard in Power BI or Looker Studio: hours vs. service intervals, active fault codes, idle percentage, and machines coming due.
- 4Use ChatGPT or Copilot to explain fault codes in plain English and draft a weekly summary for each customer.
- 5Set a Power Automate or Zapier rule to email the service team when a machine is within a set number of hours of a service interval or reports a new fault.
- 6Review the summary before sharing it with the customer.
Copy-paste prompt
Prompt
This CSV has equipment data: machine ID, model, engine hours, last service hours, service interval, fault codes, fuel used and idle hours. For each machine, show hours until next service, any active fault codes with a plain-English meaning (say "verify in the service manual" if unsure), and idle percentage. Then write a short customer-friendly summary and a list of machines that need attention this week.
